Saws 'R Us

The now improved, freshly outfitted bandsaw,
my favorite artist tool (with art associate, Remus)
Below: Queen of Hearts, before and after

There I was on Cindi's blog www.oldblackcatboo.blogspot.com with friend and fellow artist, Sandy Mastroni www.smastroni.blogspot.com

I never would have thought our connection, other than art, was the use of saws, shared by all three of us.

Of course, everyone knows power tools are the tie that bind women together. Just not a Kitchen Aid mixer in this case.

And only yesterday I was getting even more intimate with my bandsaw after a bearing froze. Only knew from a distance what either of those terms meant, but I know better now.
After disassembling much of my saw, I gave up and called the tech department for assistance. Didn't want to strip the screw I was trying to loosen with all my might. The man on the other end of the line confirmed, in a husky southern drawl, that what I was doing was correct. He had to repeat this a couple of times before my ear attuned to his accent. So now I can interpret toolspeak with a southern drawl. You never know what you're going to learn next.

YOU are too funny!
And yes we are linked together by our love of art, power tools and critters! And after reading your comment at Sandys...we are all hermits too. LOL! Well, how else would we create anything if we weren't squirreled away somewhere making things out of stuff that others would toss! HA! I'm so glad I found yor blog! :D
XOXO - Cindi

Hermits unite!
Speaking of critters, your black cat Boo reminds me of my Remus. He's a beaver pelt with mashed potato stuffing. (being an inside cat.) Great to cuddle.

good night...my dear anti-social recluse friend

Robin, I can see why you and Sandy and Cindi are all friends! All talented hermits with humour and skill oozing out or your finger tips! Remus is one lucky cat to have such a great place to explore.

Carole, don't leave yourself off that list! We artists are proud to have you as one of our own, too. (I'm not telling Remus that he doesn't have that much artistic talent.)

I am sooooooo impressed. Haven't touched one of those things since leaving art school. A mere Stanley knife gives me the heeby jeebies. Had to get up in the night, pick up my big black cat and put him out. He too has a beaver pelt and is stuffed with about 10 kilos of mashed potatoes (only it hadn't occurred to me until you said it Robin). They are obviously related.
Signed,
A fellow hermit

It seems a lot of substantial content is found in the comment section of blogs I follow. Have to remember to check back after commenting...
I visited to a REAL woodworker's shop yesterday (credentials: Vermonter, male) and saw the biggest bandsaw yet. It did give me a shiver. I'm just a folk art 'grasshopper' compared to these masters who know what they're doing.
Welcome Amanda to the Cyber Society of Recluse Black Cat Art Lovers! (I'll leave the blade part off for you!)

I love it! We are indeed a unique group. :D
My profile photo is actually my "Harry". Boo was my very first cat and she passed away several years ago. But she started it all! Harry is actually a wizard trapped in a cat's body. Someday I'll tell you more but I will refrain at the moment. I'm terrified of sounding like a crazy cat lady... though I am.
